  : The reservation was pre-paid on booking.com, but the reception staff refused to accept this, despite being shown the transaction on my banking app. They demanded a card payment of the full price or no check-in. I provided this in desperation and raised the matter again at check-out, during which the receptionist seemed to be really confused and showed me he had handwritten something on a print-out of the reservation as proof. He eventually admitted the mistake and agreed to refund the card the same day, but failed to do so. I called the hotel back and was rudely told that they werent going to refund the booking and it was booking.coms fault for not providing something, despite booking.com verifying this was not the case. All in all, I had to spend hours of time trying to resolve this and eventually was left with no choice but to raise a chargeback claim with my credit card company. I have never had a hotel experience as bad as this. Do not be tempted by the cheap price and good location - not worth the emotional damage of having to deal with this mess. Genuinely shocking how they get away with this.
