  : Bathroom was a little small but it was ok. A mini fridge in the room would have been good so we could keep some bottles of cold water and some milk.

  : The Elmington is a very clean hotel, the rooms are spacious and quiet. There are pleasant gardens which are lit up at night and the location is quiet and secluded. Easy parking.
  : Last year, at a completely different hotel and location, the bed was so uncomfortable I got no sleep the first night and my first full day was ruined by tiredness. This year, I was careful to pick a hotel that stated it had 'comfy beds'. Sadly, this proved not to be the case, at least in Room 28. I had to fold the duvet in half and sleep on it to make the bed tolerably comfortable and got some sleep, at least, but once again my first full day was spoilt. I was moved to a different room (26) with a much more comfortable bed but I didn't receive a real apology. The second room had a sea view which was lovely but the shower room was not as good as in the first room. It was very narrow and the sink so small I had to duck under the glass shelf above to brush my teeth. The hotel and furniture is generally rather tired-looking and dated. It seems under-staffed; you can ring the bell at Reception repeatedly but, often, no-one comes. The hotel is a long way from the cafes, bars and shops of Torquay but I guess that's the price you pay for a quiet location. Not sure why the Elmington has four stars, perhaps because of the swimming pool which was covered and not used by anyone, I think, whilst I was there despite the very hot weather. I didn't use the tea/coffee making facilities in my room but noted that there were no biscuits provided. Having said all this, the price I paid was reasonably good value for money given the current high price of everything.
