  : Location, grounds, property and decor were lovely. Reception staff welcoming and friendly.
  : Breakfast service needed leadership and organisation. Buffet food items often running low and cooked mushrooms not cooked on both sides. Staff were inattentive. . One room in our party had no wooden stop for the window and blinds didn’t work properly. Insufficient lighting in the room. One bedside light didn’t work. One shower didn’t work properly.

  : Almost the first, fine, warm day on our four week tour and we were able to eat dinner at one of the tables on the lawn, what a pleasure. Our meal was well cooked and the staff were attentive and polite. The beer was cold and refreshing.We had a cooked breakfast in doors with the same high level of service.Our room was newly refurbished and spacious and there was an equally large bathroom with a walk in shower.No problem with parkingReception welcoming and very helpful.

  : Unexpectedly good evening meal in the restaurant. If I were awarding a Coren-type marking, I would say food 9 (food itself was superb- only marked as would be restricted choice for some), service 10, value 10 ( for someone used to south of England prices) Overall 9.5

  : Hotel is a grand old manor house and seems to have been recently refurbished. It's located out of town so you definitely need a car but was only around 15 minutes from Durham city, so it worked out well. Some lovely walks around the hotel - turn left when you leave and just past the lovely old Pittington Church are some public footpaths across the fields. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the continental breakfast was pretty good too. Rooms were fine, nice strong shower with easily controlled temperature.
  : Rooms were pretty good though could have done with one or two extra touches. Not much table space and walls were pretty thin - not the hotel's fault but we had a loud snorer next to us and I could hear him all night. Then we had a heavy footed chap so could hear him moving around. Higher rooms were stuffy - no major issue but as we had the window open, we were kept awake by people chatting on the tables in the garden.

  : I have stayed here several times now , it is central for the work I do in the area , god Wi-Fi, good carpark, restaurant and bar excellent and the room very comfortable and everything works.

  : The bed was comfortable; the shower was hot; the food was good but the menu limited.
  : The hotel was taken over by non-residents disturbing our meal in the restaurant with their loud, bad behaviour. The snug - the only place to have a comfortable seat for a pre- or post-dinner drink - was converted into a dark TV room for non-residents watching football.
