  : I booked the cheapest room available on the IOW for my seven night stay. My room was clean, comfortable and quiet! If like me youre just looking for a room to sleep at night and a quick breakfast to start your day the the fernside will work for you!
  : Locally there seems to be a number of homes for vulnerable drink and drug users so not the most comfortable place to be walking alone after dark.

  : Very good value. Bigger than average single room. Substantial breakfast - good choice and freshly cooked. Location not all that near the town centre and beach, though that wasn't a problem for me.

  : Accomodation was absolutely spotless, a lot of attention to detail when it comes to cleanliness. Staff were friendly and personable, very down to earth yet professional. Breakfast was very good quality.
  : Was a little further from sea front then expected, took a little while to get bearings of the area as was listed as only 500 yards from beach, but isn't. However this did not affect enjoying of holiday at all, just took a bit more navigating to begin with.

  : You know how it is: you want a weekend away and the well known chain would be the easy option - you know what youll get. But the chain doesnt always offer the value for money it might want you to believe it offers. So you look for something else. You check the reviews and eventually you make a choice and hope youve made a good one. But unless youve stayed before, theres still a slight nagging doubt, a fear of the unknown maybe. Well fear no more - for me, The Fernside delivered completely. Friendly owners, a comfortable room that was clean, a nice breakfast cooked to order, a convenient location near the local station and a good real ale pub, ten minutes walk to the seafront at a slow pace, and very good value for money. Ill be back to Sandown sometime in the future, and the choice next time will be easy - same again.
  : Nothing to dislike - even Winston the Chocolate Lab was friendly, as long as I didnt sit on his sofa!
