  : The location was ideal. Sitting on a canal we were immersed in the sights and sounds that make Amsterdam unique. A short walk in any direction would take you to restaurants, cafes, and shopping. The room was comfortable and the hotel staff were helpful.

  : The amenities in the bathroom. Paulo was also helpful and carried one of the cases up the stairs after we arrived walking for almost an hour to get to the hotel because the taxi driver at the station told us it was a "quick walk" and "in the next street". However, even though it's a few streets away from the station it's WAY down from the station. The morning that we wanted to leave, the duty manager also told us that we could walk to the place where we wanted to store our cases as it was a few streets away, which also turned out to be many blocks further. Fortunately, I insisted on getting a taxi, which turned out to be a 15-minute drive.
  : Where to begin, firstly there's no lift, so we had to drag cases up 3 flights of extremely steep, narrow stairs. I've never walked up such steep stairs as at Hotel Hegra. When we left the hotel my hubby and I battled getting the cases down those stairs. At one point hubby said just let the case slide down the stairs which I did and it almost hurt him very badly. At no point did the manager on duty who I'm sure heard the commotion get up from his chair to come and try to help us. If you do go there not only are the stairs steep, but they're also narrow, so try and walk down backward and hold on tight. There's also no phone in the room to call downstairs to reception to ask for scissors for example to cut the cable ties so that you can open your suitcases. When we arrived we were told that we couldn't use the coffee machine at night or in the morning, as they don't want to wake up the guests in the hotel, meanwhile, the walls in the room are so thin that you can hear what's happening in the room next to you in any event, as we did at 2:30 am. When we were given permission to use the coffee machine the next morning, it didn't work! Even though there was milk in it it didn't make cappuccinos after the manager and I tried 3 times. We won't be going back to Hotel Hegra.
