  : We liked the opening window to the chanel. it was great to be in the heart of Venice. Close to shops and restaurants. There was a washing machine in the apt.
  : The price is too high. The renovation and furniture might have been more up-to-date. No dishwasher. The kettle is too small.

  : La Coccola has a great location between the Fondamente Nove waterbus stop (used by the Alilaguna airport boat's Blue Line) and the Strada Nova, which is part of the main pedestrian route from the Piazzale Roma and the railroad station to the Piazza San Marco. The apartment and its neighborhood street are very quiet, but supermarkets, places to eat, shops, etc. are less than five minutes away on foot. (The Ca' d'Oro vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal is also close by.) The apartment itself is roomy, clean, and light, with lovely views of a canal from the living-room and bedroom windows. It was convenient having a desk in the bedroom, and the washing machine in the spacious bathroom was easy to use. Alvise, our landlord, was extremely friendly and helpful. When acqua alta (tidal flooding) threatened to be an annoyance, as it often can be during the fall and winter months, he and his brother placed a barrier across the lower part of our doorway to keep any water out. (Fortunately, it wasn't needed, since Venice's relatively new MOSE tidal barrier was deployed on the days with higher tides.) We stayed at La Coccola for three weeks in November, so we didn't use the air conditioning, but the central heating worked well. (The apartment didn't feel damp, drafty, or cold.) We hope to stay there again!
  : The refrigerator was small, but that wasn't really a problem since we had so many supermarkets and other food stores close by and didn't need to stock up for more than a few days at a time. (Tip: There's a big Coop supermarket just a few blocks away, and the Despar Teatro Italia--a little farther in the direction of the railroad station--has the best selection of breads, rolls, and breakfast pastries in town.)

  : Amazing location - really close to the Vaparetto stop and walkable to main sites yet still quiet. Apartment was simple but had everything we needed. Alvice was really helpful as a host.
  : There was no door between the living space and bedrooms which was fine for us with a baby, but with older children this might make staying up after childrens bedtimes tricky
