  : The hostess was very pleasant and the one breakfast we had was good
  : This is the first place we have visited where the prior reviews did not make sense. The location was dire - opposite a garage repair facility cum rental car location. The room was very basic with only one window up high, which gave it the feel of a cell. The shower and toilet were electrically operated, so they made quite a noise when used and the walls were thin so we could hear our neighbours. We had to leave after one night and so forfeited the rest of our stay, which was unfortunate. However we found the completely charming Aux Armes de Champagne, a hotel not far from Chlons-en-Champagne (next train stop) and so managed to salvage our little trip to the champagne region. All's well that ends well, but think long and hard before booking into La Poterne!

  : The breakfast was excellent! A beautifully laid table in the breakfast room with orange juice, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, cheese, brioche and baguette and freshly prepared scrambled eggs. Our host, Charlotte, served coffee and tea, and a coffee maker was available in a sitting room to access before and after breakfast. The house and garden are beautifully maintained, and the hosts pay attention to the little details, such as a water carafe, kettle, tea and Nescafe available in the room, and a small sitting area in the room. A 5 minute walk from the train station, and so close to many restaurants, shops and Champagne Avenue!

  : The hotel is on a small side street in Epernay, literally a five minute walk into town. You can walk to Avenue de Champagne in about ten minutes. The staff and room were great, we parked in a garage for a car repair place across the street, and it all worked out well. Breakfast was fantastic, and the all day coffee in the reception area is greatly appreciated. All in all this was a wonderful stay and a great introduction to the Champagne region.
