  : Cleanliness inside of the room.
  : The staircase was not in good condition with broken dull tiles which made the place look as though it was dirty or like a shantie.The policy that a guest cannot enter the room before 2pm is punitive. I arrived in Madrid at 7.25am very tired after spending whole night traveling then am told if l want to use the room l pay an additional 15 euros yet had paid in full for my stay in advance. My colleagues who booked an adjacent room that morning were allowed into the room immediately without additional cost.

  : Although we were late, access was smooth, and the staff was quick to respond to our inquiries during our stay.
  : In all fairness, the property is somewhat past due as far as renovation/overhaul is concerned. We probably did not get the best room, but the front door, halls, staircases, locks and lights likewise crave some attention. As for the room, for instance, there was a electric vent in our bathroom (goes on with the light), presumably to reduce dampness when the shower is turned on. In short, it nothing of the sort, the bathroom was perpetually damp, leaving the bathroom door and frame swollen. The room itself did of course get its share of dampness, nothing dried in there. On top of all this (did bother us no end) the Hostel has no means of safekeeping luggage if you have to wait for a late flight. You simply cant go around town with a 20 kg suitcase. This would be easy to fix with a few luggage-sized compartments/cupoards in the hall with 1 or 2 EUR locks (like those in the entrance of the Prado museum). You would have to return the keys if you wanted your luggage.

  : The hair Dryer in bathroom connected with an exposed china connector and no switch to turnoff - Meaning that if you hit the wall with a wet towel you might get an electric shock. Bed Bugs in Matress and Pillow.

  : It is centrally located and near to attractions and Gran Via. There are shops and restaurants nearby. Very convenient.
