  : The location was wonderful and the view from the window was a nice relaxing place to sit watching the trams going past and experiencing the Basel life and an insight into what Medieval Basel was like.
  : The hotel was much worse than I expected, the photos make it look modern and well looked after, unfortunately this wasn't the case. The carpet was dirty and covered in stains, and the bathroom was falling apart and was dirty. The whole hotel was in need of modernisation. The hotel advertised this as a free room upgrade by booking.com I was really disappointed with the state of the rooms and not sure my upgrade was granted. I also had the cleaner/room service knock on my door and then proceeded to walk in at 9 a.m. and as soon as she saw me half naked she closed the door and didn't come back! Noting the check out was at 11 this was not acceptable, I did speak to reception about this. The bathroom itself had the wallpaper falling off exposing the wall under it from mould on the ceiling to a well-used shower. The entire hotel needed a coat of paint. For what was quite an expensive hotel per night, I am very disappointed with my experience and I am surprised it has a 3 * hotel.

  : The location in the old town was lovely. The staff was very friendly.
  : The rooms are tired and out dated. It was 32 degrees and there was no air conditioning. The fan was not much help making the room stuffy and very uncomfortable.

  : Very close to city for walking and tram. Basel travel pass provide but all hotels give free travel pass. Quiet location except for tram.
  : Curry smells. Tired hotel - chipped paintwork, worn carpets, balustrade damaged. Very small bathroom couldnt use sink properly because of the toilet, bath very high to step into. Unhappy with semi nude paintings in hallways. No euro sockets only swiss had to buy an adaptor. This is Switzerland so expected but other hotels we have used have multi purpose sockets. Tram noise but convenient. Bed was 2 singles pushed together.
