  : The location.
  : I have been staying at this hotel for more than 50 years through loyalty. And every year it. Gets worse against promises of renovation. The reception, breakfast and housekeeping staff are nice. But that’s it. The hotel is decrepit. The rooms are dirty and rundown. The terraces are generally inaccessible and left to allow a build up of dead flies and worse. The sea view. Like Fawlty towers was possible if you stood on the bed and looked above the hedge. A garden room. I would not have walked on that terrace wearing a hazmat suit. The bar was understaffed by a particularly rude lady who compensated for her complete lack of training by industrial scale rudeness culminating in her walking out of the hotel. The manager once summoned lectured me for 20 minutes about the impossibility of getting any decent staff. I was effectively told it was my problem. For the next 24 hours I was treated worse than something you would pick up in your shoe in a gutter. Apparently there was nothing Christian the manager could say at the risk of losing the rest of his staff. Oh and although I’m allergic to mayonnaise I was served a ham and mayo sandwich. (Ham and mustard on the menu). I’d lost the will to live by then. There are brand new hotels in Paignton and Torquay. Ibis. Mercury Hilton. Please stay there. I spend 150 plus nights a year in hotels globally. This is the worst I have ever experienced. Beyond third world. Good luck
