  : Staff are lovely and the location is beautiful.
  : This is the second time we have stayed, last time it was 10 out of 10, unfortunately I can't say the same this time. The mattress could do with replacing or upgrading as it is very soft and you can feel the springs but the most disappointing part was the restaurant. We had an amazing meal last time and the atmosphere was great. This time it was missing the laid back charm we experienced previously and was dead quiet for a Friday evening.We were forced to order from the tasting / choice menu as the brasserie is not allowed in the restaurant (despite what it says on top table so be careful when booking). The food was tasty enough but not amazing and you get ridiculously small portions on the choice menu. I left feeling disappointed and slightly hungry after spending nearly 200. I don't think we will be returning for a third time.

  : The location is amazing right next to the lake with great views and quick access to the Mardale head car park where theres plenty of hiking trails. The hotel was beautiful and staff very friendly, Zee especially was more than happy to help with anything. The food was great too and being able to charge everything to the room certainly made things easy
  : Our room was next to the staircase and above the kitchen so we could hear lots of loud creaking floorboards and sound from the kitchen. But it is an old building and it wasnt a problem at night.
