  : Location was really great, close to the high street. I read from previous reviewers that the noise for the street facing rooms can get too much. I messaged the hotel and they gave me a room that did not face the street.I really liked the architecture of the building. While walking around, a gentleman from the reception (didnt catch the name) offered to give me a tour of the Kings Room. He walked me to the room and explained everything about it. Greatly appreciated and made my stay even more memorable!

  : The staff (one Asian man and an Asian woman) at reception (they were working in the morning: afternoon of 27.09.2020) were very friendly.
  : We arrived at the hotel between 8 - 10pm on 25.09.2020 to a very rude and hostile young white male receptionist who only cared about making us download the track and trace app and failed to mention that our room was on the fifth floor (highest) but the lift only went up to the fourth floor, so we would have to walk the rest of the way. Secondly, my sister and were specifically stopped when we were quietly entering the lobby use the lift to go to our room on the evening of 26.09.2020 even though we were guests, the staff (older white man) made us walk over to the reception area and show our key to “prove” that we were staying there. However, there was a group of older (white) people in front of us who were seriously drunk, joking and shouting loudly amongst themselves (while not doing any social distancing), who entered the premises a few seconds before we did, yet, they weren’t stopped or made to show any proof of staying at the hotel. What was specifically annoying is the staff could see that my sister and I were carrying shopping and just wanted to simply put our bags down. As we were also placed in a room on the highest floor of the hotel, we had no heating and had to request an electric heater after sleeping in a freezing cold room the night before. The shower was terrible - very old and dirty, couldn’t adjust the water pressure either making a job of washing your bottom half with clean water. The cleaner (oriental Asian woman) was exceptionally rude to us when we requested toilet roll, she looked away and shoved it in my hand as soon as I opened the door and then walked off. This happened on the morning of 27.09.2020. There were also many other nice hotels around that were less expensive. I wish I came across them first before booking this worn out place. The staff we came across at the reception area on our last day (late morning of 27.09.2020) are this branches saving grace. The man and woman were lovely and made us feel valued.

  : Gangs of unsavoury looking characters around and outside hotel.....car pulled up an asked my niece if she wanted to go for a ride

  : Room furnishing very old and worn out. Carpet warped and coming up off the floor. Most definitely not value for money. Would have been more comfortable in a cheap motel

  : But found it odd for the 4star rating that the floors were very creaky, room features like the cupboards were pretty old & the main thing I was uncomfortable with was the state of the shower curtains, I didn’t have the time during my stay to request a change but wasn’t happy at all with them, didn’t look clean, stain marks etc
