  : The staff were rude were not friendly and very unaccomodative, even the simplest of questions were met with rudeness. The rooms are very small, so bear in mind when taking luggage etc. The balcony couldn't be accessed and we were not pre-warned. I asked for cotton buds but was made to feel as if this was an unusual request. We couldn't use the gym at checkout which we already got ready for and wanted to make use of the facilities before we departed (as we had a late check-in).

  : This hotel is largely a noisy construction site. My 165/night, two-night stay with a view of the river to celebrate my birthday was a MASSIVE let down! Room 134 did not have enough room to swing a cat! My partner and I had to give way to each other to pass in front of the bed, and there was no space or rack to put our suitcase. Worse, our first floor room was situated directly over a cordoned off area on the ground floor, housing a massive excavator, with its arm arced up beyond the height of our balcony. We were also not permitted to use this balcony, but worse, there were workmen walking along our balcony, meaning the curtains needed to be closed for privacy. My complaint and relocation request was refused as the hotel was fully booked, but they said they would try to upgrade us to another room, without a river view, the next day. I had not complained about the size of the room (cosy as it was!), just about the noisy and intrusive work taking place during the day in close proximity to my room, using large noisy machinery, with no use the balcony and having to make eye contact with workers walking along our balcony. The next day, on my actually birthday, we were moved to what can only be described as a larger, noisier room on the other side of the hotel. The drilling started about 9 or 10 and went on throughout the day until about 4pm. This was horrendous, as we had planned to stay in and chill on my birthday. However, the loud drilling and banging on steel providing deafening surround sound to our room. Due to the continuous, unbearable noise in the background, I could barely converse with all my birthday callers and my partner had to leave the room in order to have a coherent conversation with our employees. I also had to dodge a workman with steel pole on the way down to breakfast. I have travelled around the UK but have never had such a hellish experience. Your site mentions construction activities during 2023, not 2024. Totally unacceptable!

  : I loved the pool and spa area. The food choices in the restaurant were very limited, there were two choices either a roast or an Asian dish.
  : More choices of dishes in the restaurant. There seemed to be a shortage of towels in the spa.

  : Food was very good. Service very good. Room was surprisingly small, though clean and (looked) newly refurbished.
  : The weekend was booked for my wifes birthday. It was therefore extremely disappointing to arrive to a building covered in scaffolding, building materials, and a general feel of a building site. I appreciate the hotel is investing in a modernisation program, but a curtesy warning wouldve given me the option to book elsewhere or, at least, wouldve avoided, on our arrival, the great sense of disappointment and concern.

  : Staff very friendly and helpful. Bathroom great with sensor light under basin, which is great in the dark. Overall good value for location.
  : Room a bit small, wardrobe too small and compact. Stupid shelf unit in the wardrobe stopped you hanging things up properly. Ironing board should not be in the wardrobe either.

  : Location suited our purpose due to its location. Especially like the river views.
  : Evening waiting staff especially lady in suit who was helpful friendly and helpful unlike man in afternoon coffee shop who was abrupt unfriendly and bordered on rude when querying a bill. Found the cist extortionate nearly 15 for two coffees and a piece of cake ridiculous!
