: We stayed at the Bancroft for two nights. It was a fantastic value, spacious, clean, quiet, very, very comfortable, with easy access to both Durham, and Beamish Town. There was a very good pub,(The Travelers Rest) with fair prices, a couple of blocks away. Our cheery host met us when we arrived and told us about our apartment, and the nearby pubs. The apt consisted of three levels. The small kitchen/dining /living area was at ground level. Then there were a few steps up to the main bedroom/bath. There was another bedroom upstairs. Parking was tight! And access to the private off-road parking was best obtained by approaching from the East, and crossing both lanes to ensure that you could "line up" while navigating the thru the narrow entrance.
