  : It is clean and spacious, the beds are large and comfortable and the staff are helpful. Earplugs are provided but are not able to block out the very loud noise from the music in the pub below. Once the music stops and the pub closes, it is blissfully quiet & comfy.
  : When we arrived at 8.30 pm (on a Saturday) a band were playing in the garden space behind the pub. This was incredibly loud and as the apartment is just above the bar and there is no soundproofing at all we might as well have been on the stage. When the band finished at 10pm very loud music was played until 11pm in the bar directly below. We like the Specials, but not the whole back catalogue at top volume. Customers didn't leave until after 11.15 so it was impossible to relax, even with earplugs in, until after then. I read the folder with details about the apartment which made reference to 'the transference of sound from the pub which was mentioned in the description' but there was no mention of it in the booking.com description. If we had known we would never have booked it as we were looking for somewhere quiet and it ruined our evening - the level of volume was like a form of torture, impossible to escape from even with earplugs in.I double checked the description in the booking.com website and the 'transference of sound' was not mentioned anywhere. It was mentioned on air B&B but obviously we didn't book through airb&b. The apartment is very comfortable, spacious and clean. The decor and lighting makes it very dark which would have been enjoyable in a theatrical way had it not been for the deafening noise. At 7.30 am on the following morning we were woken up by people talking below so we were not able to have a lie in to recover. The fact they we could have had a conversation with them without having to shout illustrates just how thin the floor partition was. I appreciate it is an old building and therefore soundproofing would be expensive to install but the description needs to make it very clear that this is what you are agreeing to if you stay here.
