: At the breakfast room, the atmosfere felt like that of a typical english B&B. They offer plenty of options for breakfast and coffee was good. My room was very clean and quiet (even though looked at the high street) and tastefully decorated (website pics don't make justice). Good quality toiletries (l'Occitane). Very convenient location to catch local buses or train.
: It will be a good idea to offer some options to eat if you arrive late, at least snacks or fruits, considering that most shops in town close very early.

: Very nice hotel that looks well maintained. I received an upgrade room. It had a bit of a noisy vent outside but not too bad (hence 9 overall). Lovely walk in shower, comfortable bed and joy, air conditioning, though not needed. Breakfast was good value and enjoyable ( I had the continental, and there was no skimping). The restaurant server was polite, efficient, and friendly. The reception person was also polite, friendly, and helpful. I was pleasantly surprised by Colchester—I had only ever seen the ring road and the stadium route. There is a good Thai restaurant around the corner (One Thai).
: The vent outside the room. The sealant on the sink (room 7) was coming off, which did not look great. Could have done with a firmer pillow (or a sculptured foam one). I'm being picky!

: Staff were friendly and helpful. Accommodation was of a good standard with little extras (iron and board). Bed was a little on the soft side, but not uncomfortable. Breakfast was excellent.

: Received free upgrade to a suite so had LOTS of space, which instantly felt luxurious. Very comfortable bed, armchairs not so good for the short-legged but very stylish. Complimentary bar and inclusion of generous breakfast menu made for very good VFM. Very central location, walking distance from everything, including Colchester Town station.
: Wifi and 4G reception a bit patchy. Reception staff were a bit cold and lacking in initiative eg no attempt to apologise, offer other relevant information or engage in conversation while waiting for the card-reader to become available (and surely it should be possible to check in 2 guests at the same time??). Restaurant staff more friendly and efficient, but didn't seem well-trained in dealing with feedback (when I noted that the spinach in my eggs florentine was gritty, suggesting it had not been washed properly, I would have expected an "I'm so sorry, I'll make sure the chef is made aware", rather than just a nervous laugh and an "Oh dear, have a nice day".
