  : The receptionist was unwelcoming and abrupt on arrival and incorrectly charged us an increased tourist tax which has not been yet been approved by government, requiring us to point this out and ask for a refund. No apology was given for this error.We were offered an upgrade to a Superior double/twin by Booking.com which we accepted as it showed that there were walk-in showers. My husband as mobility problems and this type of shower is preferred. Instead our room had a tiny bathroom with a shower-over-bath, the access to which was almost over the toilet bowl, difficult and dangerous to use, with no grab handle or non-slip mat. I spoke to reception and asked why the shower was not a walk-in as shown on their website for the Superior rooms, and could we be moved to another room. She told me that only one room in the entire hotel had a walk-in shower and that room was occupied. Wall fittings loose. Wardrobe door almost fell off rails. Carpet not cleaned properly, husband's trousers got marked just kneeling on it. In the morning there was no cold water in the shower or sink, meaning that I almost got scalded trying to take a shower and had to rinse my teeth in hot water. When I spoke to reception they simply said all the rooms are the same, it had been like that all night and they were hoping to repair the problem soon. I pointed out that perhaps it would have been safer to inform all the guests. Again no apology offered.After asking to speak to a manager, Sandra, we were offered a room for the 2nd night in the nearby Dom Carlos Liberty, which we agreed to. It meant that several hours of our precious break was used in packing and moving, it was a smaller room, but with a walk-in shower. The overall experience here was completely different, cheerful, welcoming receptionists, nicer breakfast room, spotlessly clean and overall a much better experience.
