  : We have been to La Citadelle several times now - on our way to, or from, Italy - and this was the first time we have been back since covid. It is a stunning building in a fabulous location - Metz is a lovely place with a very interesting history and is well worth wandering round. Car parking is perfect - they always look after us very well and the safety of our car is assured. The rooms are modern for the character of the building, however this mostly works. The facilities in the rooms are excellent. Beds are comfortable.
  : The restaurant remains very good, although the new lighting and decor we felt lacked atmosphere. Some of the tables in the restaurant are a little too close together to ensure privacy if required. Most of the recent upgrading of the rooms and building works well, however I did prefer the previous quirky hotel sign!I very much missed the wonderful shop that used to be in the foyer, selling interesting gifts and handmade foods/oils/spices and their speciality brandy. I do understand, however, that these things were frequently sacrificed during covid and were too costly or inconvenient to be reinstated.

  : Character building in close proximity to some beautiful sights. Breakfast and staff in restaurant were excellent.
  : Reception cold and unfriendly as there is just a school table which they hover around and look uncomfortable. First room given on second floor had only small high windows and musty smell. They redeem themselves with second room. Expensive parking but ensures you are right outside building.

  : Great location and very flexiable with our check in which was super early in the morning. The room was big and spacious, clean and a nice view.
  : You said this hotel was dog friendly which it is but you can't take your dog into the restuarant the staff where very dismissive of us and so we were made to feel unwelcome. What is the point in allowing dogs if the owners can't eat even in a small area in your restuarant. Woudl stop us staying with you again

  : Early check-in even though we didn't book it.
  : We booked a double room, then git an e-mail that this wasn't something that could be guaranteed and to talk to the hotel on arrival. Never had this before.
