  : It was great to have a spacious (I paid extra) and fairly quiet room (on most nights, and I did request a quiet room) with a comfortable bed in such a central location. It's just a few minutes' walk from the main shopping area, with lots of restaurants and cafes, and not much further to the castle and various churches. There are also several tram stops nearby, and some beautiful book shops. I really, really like Caen, and though I was there for work, I'd also thoroughly recommend it as a place for a few days' holiday. It has the feel of a cultural European city, with plenty to see and do, whilst being a really manageable size. The bathroom was very small but fine, and the shower had decent water pressure. The young man on reception (who also worked at breakfast, I think) was very kind and helpful. The two women on reception (who were the only other members of staff I saw) were generally polite, though not at all friendly. By the leaflets near reception, on a low shelf, I found a pad of paper maps of the town, so you can tear one off, fold it, and pop it in your bag - very handy.
  : I was very disappointed that the lift didn't stop on the floors with the rooms on. Instead, it stopped in between the floors, on little floors of its own, half way. This means that you have to carry your luggage down half a floor's worth of stairs to get to your floor. If, like me, you have a disability, this is a daily problem. I have a walking stick and severe pain, so this was difficult. It would be impossible for someone in a wheelchair or with luggage they are unable to carry themselves. The lift is also very small and claustrophobic. I was there for 6 nights, and on 5 of the mornings, someone came into my room to clean while I was in bed or about to get dressed after a shower! On some of these days it was before 9am and despite me hanging the relevant sign on the door handle. They should have knocked and waited for an answer, at the very least. If you want a lie in, this is not the hotel for you. The room was quite dusty in places, and there was pinky coloured mold in the shower. Overall it was reasonably clean, though for the money I had expected a higher standard. The windows were difficult to open. I had to ask a member of staff to do it for me. (To begin with I thought they were sealed shut.) They had said they could provide a vegan gluten free breakfast, but this would have just been coffee, juice, and long life bread/toast with jam for 13 Euros, so I chose not to have it. (I found a place called L'OKaka nearby which is amazing if you have either of these dietary requirements or like having locally-sourced fresh food.)

  : Room was super comfortable with a balcony, a TV with a wide selection of channels and a super modern, spacious and clean bathroom. Teas and coffees supplied in the room with a reasonably sized desk.

  : The location of the hotel is quite close to the city center. The staff was very friendly and available. The room was big and comfortable. A fan was useful for the room climatization.
