  : The location is great, you have the entire old town at walking distance. The Plaza Mayor is just behind the hostal, I also enjoyed my Sunday morning at El Rastro, the famous flee market, walked to the Royal Palace, the Almudena cathedral, Opera house, visited the newly open Galera de las colecciones reales, and the other famous landmarks as well. I used to live in this area before, and it's just perfect if you want to enjoy the experience of the living in Madrid. I did lots of shopping and it was easy to bring back things to the hotel so I didn't need to carry bags and weight with me all the time. There are plenty of restaurants and cafs in the area, basically anything else you may need, like supermarket, drugstore, metro and train station. The staff are lovely and extremely helpful.
  : You can hear everything happening in the corridors and adjacent rooms. Fortunately, everyone was quiet. I wasn't bothered by the noise from the street, so it was OK. The room was cold unless I turned on the small electric heater that I found inside the wardrobe. Then the room temperature was good.

  : We arrived from a 12 hour plane journey, we arrived at the Hostel in Madrid at 5am, we went to the Hostal at 7:30 and were very poorly received, with cold words saying "we cannot receive you before 1am, you were warned" , we asked to just be able to leave our bags and the answer was the same. As a result, we stayed in the Plaza Mayor with our suitcases for 1 hour and we were almost robbed, then we had to take the metro and take the Tour of the Real Madrid stadium with our suitcases, it didn't cost anything to leave the suitcases, I offered to pay for it and the answer was the same, not cold.

  : Location is excellent - between Plaza Mayor and Sol. Basic, simple rooms. An excellent host on reception (Max), was very helpful and accommodating..
  : Tea & Coffee facilities in the room would have been a bonus.
