  : We arrived to a warm welcome, despite arriving fairly late at night, having picked this for a one-night stay in northern Spain, near the French border, for our onward journey from Portugal to the UK. Room service was good/quick/delivered with a smile. The bed was comfy, and we had a bath and good shower (immediate hot water and great water pressure) in our junior suite. Very nice scenery, and I enjoyed sipping my coffee in the morning, sat on the wide windowsill, listening to the morning bird-song and looking at the misty mountains, through the trees. The breakfast was nice; eggs & bacon freshly cooked, with continental selection. I thought the staff were superb, both the evening shift, and breakfast shift. Check in and check out was easy enough.
  : The breakfast was nice, but is mainly continental (bread, cheese, conserves, cereals and cold cut meat), which seemed a touch limited on choice to me for a pricey place with an a la carte restaurant (but this is subjective, as the food we had was good, so perhaps more a 'for noting' than a dislike, as they do eggs and bacon to order). There were a couple of 'bits' in the bed when we got in it - nothing sinister, no hairs or bugs, etc, just unidentifiable bits. There was a coffee machine in the room, but only two coffee pods and espresso-size cups only (no tea cups/mugs), so perhaps upgrade this. I am always a little disappointed if there isn't a kettle in the room (there wasn't), but these days it happens more often (replaced by coffee machines) - but would have liked that, and a selection of teas. Two final things for travellers to note; the hotel access is a single-track lane that leads, after 1-2km, to the hotel. It starts off with a very tight hair-pin bend on a 30-degree upwards gradient, and the sign to the hotel which accompanies the turning can be easy to miss. Secondly, I would say this a perfectly good stopover, if youre looking for a place in the Spanish-French border area. However, on arrival, it is clear this venue caters for events; evidenced by two large covered outdoor areas, one a bar (think festival bar), the other a dining/mezzanine area (think wedding marquee) both immediately next door to the hotel, in addition to a big ground-floor restaurant area. Although no events were ongoing when we got there, I think this may have been luck, rather than judgement. And I note other reviews saying they were unaware they had booked an overnight stay while events were being laid on - and suffered a disturbed night because of it. So if you do book here, I would enquire with the venue first, whether there are any events being hosted, then make your choice.

  : Close to the motorway yet also deep into the countryside, a blissfully quiet location with delightful, helpful staff, a fabulous breakfast and a great restaurant. We'd stayed here back in 2010 and forgotten how lovely it was. Very easy to access other towns in the Basque Country such as San Sebastin and Hondarribia.

  : The location was remote and very quiet with nice semi rural views. Arancia and Ischia were lovely staff and couldn't do enough for us. The restaurant at night had excellent food at reasonable prices but the option were a bit limited. Best steak so far in Europe. Parking is free and onsite. The hotel has rustic decor. Breakfast was very good with excellent barista coffee. The rooms have very good air conditioning for heating and cooling. The bathroom is a good size with excellent water pressure. The bed is very comfortable. The room is a very good size and has a functional desk.
  : The WiFi was very slow and unreliable. It dropped out regularly. The road in is about 3 km of narrow and badly maintained road (more a very long broken concrete drive). The hotel is about 4 km from restaurants and services so going in and out is a bit of a mission. The bedroom curtains were too narrow for the windows so not suitable as black out curtains especially when the hotel lights are on until late at night. Although the room was generally clean there was significant dust build up in the room and bathroom corners and dust bunnies under the bed and desk. There are plenty of power points but some are hard to access especially for a laptop at the desk.

  : Very large room, comfy beds, very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely views. We found the property with no problems at all and the road leading up to it wasnt too bad either.
  : Room was a little hot and although one coffee pod per person is provided, a kettle with the option of tea would be nice. The terrace where you can choose to eat a simple, less costly meal than the restaurant needs a little TLC and thought. A marquee so quite open to the elements, makes it feel cold and because its separate from the hotel, leaves you feeling like youre an inconvenience and rather abandoned.
