  : This place was very quiet and scenery was beautiful. Staff was also very nice and friendly.
  : Rooms were not very clean and there was an odd smell in the room. There was no TV in the room and lightning was inadequate. All sounds from other rooms and outside were highly audible as well as the door locking. Breakfast was basic and same every morning. Coffee tasted chlorine. We would call this place preferably B&B than hotel.

  : Check in is efficient and the staff was really friendly and helpful. Terrace, garden and view are incredible.
  : The room was dark, small and had a really bad air quality with a weird smell. The breakfast was disappointing and there was no staff in place to help. You have to make coffee and eggs by yourself with a poor coffee machine/egg cooker.

  : We booked a room with garden view but had only the view to a wall (see photo). Beds were quite uncomfortable and walls are thin.

  : In the northwest corner of Tenerife the land tends to slope down very steeply to the sea. In some areas the slope is gentle enough to cultivate bananas. Malpais Trece (13) is located on such slope, amidst banana plantations. From the very attractive, beautifully maintained gardens and buildings of Malpais Trece, we could look out over thouands of banana plants and admire the mountains, the sea and the nearby towns and villages. It was really a pleasure to take in the beautiful surroundings (as well as the fresh air) and that was made even easier by the abundance of comfortable outdoor furniture. Not only the gardens were very well maintained: our room and all the areas open to guests at Malpais 13 were also beautifully maintained. Moreover, although our room was relatively small, the space was used very effectively so that our room felt comfortable and even welcoming. Not only our room but also the public lounge or parlour areas are very thoroughly and extensively decorated in an English cottage style featuring floral prints, numerous old prints in very traditional wooden frames, rather delicate wood furniture and upholstered seats and couches. Some visitors may find the style delightful while others may consider it inappropriate. In any case it is certainly different from the styles usually encountered in Tenerife, notably the Canary Islands style with high ceilings, white walls, ironwork, and heavy dark wood and the international modern look with hard surfaces, severe furniture, solid colours and conspicuous light fixtures. The breakfast buffet was very nicely presented and made available a considerable range of foodstuffs. We had very little contact with staff. When we did, they seemed amiable and knowledgeable.
  : Although Malpais 13 is certainly a very comfortable place to stay, we were not delighted in all respects. For instance, although our room was nicely cleaned and "made up" each morning, the towels were not changed, even when placed on the floor. (Changing the towels was desirable because there was no place to hang them and thereby dry them properly.) We also regretted that the only jam or preserves made available at the breakfast buffet was that in small plastic packages -- the individual servings that are standard in airplanes and "fast food" restaurants. In the same vein, the yogurt was "fruit flavoured" and sweetened, the "croissants" were sealed in cellophane, and in most cases the ham and cheese seemed to come from standard European supermarket packages. On the other hand, fresh fruit -- including bananas -- was available every morning.

  : Room smelled of moth balld and/or detergent, which is not pleasant. In combination with a some dampness one needs to keep the windows open at all time to at least have some fresh air.

  : Very nicely situated on top of a banana farm. Historical setting, great view to the ocean (about 200 m away), very comfortable sitting groups on a wide veranda and farm square, lovely location. A restaurant is about 500 m away (up the hill), the host had very nice recommendations for restaurants in the neighbouring towns and villages. Breakfast was very good. Perfect setting!!!

  : I'd appreciate more fruits, not only bananas, at the breakfast buffet. Also the offer of scrambled/fried eggs and a wider variety of cheese and sausage.
