  : The Koliba occupies a very nice location in the forest above the city of Zlin. It is easy walking distance to the city centre and also offers access to pleasant walks in the countryside, right on the doorstep. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Zlin is a fascinating city and it is highly recommended to visit the Bata memorial, the museums, the former factory area and housing colonies. The architecture of the Bata buildings (and other buildings, for example, the university by Eva Jiricna) is very high quality and it is clear the city as well planned with vision and purpose.   : There could have been more consideration to the design of the rooms, which on first sight look very nice and rustic. However, the lighting was very bright in the bedroom, like an operating theatre! This was solved by loosening some of the bulbs; usually in hotels it's the opposite problem! The bathroom lighting was also not very pleasant - cold bright light. The strangest "feature" was the height of the toilet! This must have been designed for giants, as my feet did not touch the ground making it pretty uncomfortable to do one's "business", and I'm an average height male. Also, there appeared to be zero acoustic insulation between the bathrooms; you could hear literally everything from the adjacent room. And finally, with the windows open the room was sometimes a bit smoky as the open fireplace was lit most of the time.
