Fully renovated in summer 2015 and situated in peaceful surroundings on the edge of Zermatt the chalet-style 4-star superior Hotel Matthiol features exclusive wellness facilities and a 10% discount on ski rental. Free transfers from the Zermatt Train Station are offered. The wellness area includes a herbal sauna a steam bath and a Finnish sauna and can be used free of charge. The fitness room is also available at no extra cost.

All rooms in the Matthiol Hotel have an iPod station cable TV and free WiFi access. Most also feature a balcony with views of the Matterhorn or Gornergrat. The trendy restaurant serves Swiss and international cuisine including fondue and fish dishes. In the afternoons there is a tea and cake buffet.

A breakfast buffet is available every morning. Zermatt is a car-free resort and the hotel offers a free pick-up service from Zermatt Train Station or the taxi rank between 08:00 and 21:00 on the day or arrival and departure. The nearest bus stop is just a 2-minute walk away and local buses can be used free of charge with the ski pass.

: Rooms are clean and tidy, good facilities throughout. Breakfast was excellent, wide range on offer. We had a mountain view room, and while it had a distant mountain it was more filled with other hotels nearby. Spa area is good, lots of towels and water. Outdoor seating area is good.
: The evening meal menu was limited and THE most expensive chicken and chips you'll ever order...style over substance food. The staff were OK, but there is a whiff of arrogance about the nature of this so called boutique hotel. Zermatt isn't interested in off skii season tourism, it's just a huge building site right now, our hotel is down a dirt track for example.

: Very nice location, good quality of materials and nice room with balcony but be aware- its very tiny. Great breakfast with made to order eggs etc.
: Weve made reservation for dinner and when we came downstairs after all day hiking it was closed and it was too late and we were too tired to do anything else. We were starving. Hotel had two main concierge/barman that day. One of them was EXTREMELY RUDE about it, he said there is no restaurant today and he does not care we have confirmed reservation. Other one couldnt concentrate due to unstoppable phone calls to front desk. This has put shadow on overall stay. Weve ordered room service with burgers- very expensive and awful. We ate just fries and hotel with 4 stars would wonder why. This one didnt care.
